MINNEAPOLIS — Byron Buxton and Trevor Larnach delivered key home runs as the Minnesota Twins handed the struggling Chicago White Sox another loss on Wednesday night, taking the game 6–3 and locking up their second straight win in the series.

Larnach continued his power surge with a go-ahead solo homer in the sixth — his second in as many games — putting the Twins up 4–3. An inning later, Buxton, hitless in his first four at-bats with three strikeouts, made his mark in a big way. He launched a two-run homer to left-center field on the first pitch he saw from Cam Booser, giving Minnesota a comfortable three-run cushion.

All of Chicago’s offense came in the fifth, a rally sparked by a walk, a single, a wild pitch, and a costly fielding error by second baseman Luke Keaschall that brought in the go-ahead run. The White Sox briefly led 3–2, but the advantage didn’t last. Brooks Lee tied the game for the Twins in the bottom half with an RBI single that drove in Ty France.

On the Mound

Twins rookie starter David Festa was once again unable to get through five innings, pulled after just two batters in the fifth. He allowed two runs — the first he’s surrendered this season — over four-plus innings, walking three and giving up four hits.

Justin Topa (1-1) earned the win with a scoreless sixth, and Danny Coulombe closed things out in the ninth for his first save of the year.

Chicago’s Bryse Wilson made his first start of 2025 after nine relief appearances. The righty allowed five hits and a single run over 2 2/3 innings before being pulled after 55 pitches. Jordan Leasure (0-1) took the loss after surrendering Larnach’s decisive blast in the sixth.

Key Moment
Buxton’s two-run bomb in the seventh flipped the tone of the game. Despite his earlier struggles, he turned on the first pitch from Booser and crushed it 414 feet to left-center, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Notable Stat
Luke Keaschall continued to show off his speed. He stole two bases in the win, giving him five steals through his first five career games — tying a Major League record for most in that span.

The White Sox will try to avoid a sweep as they hand the ball to right-hander Shane Smith (0-1, 2.82 ERA). He’ll face off against Twins righty Chris Paddack (0-2, 7.27 ERA), who is coming off his best outing of the year.
